RA-16

RA-16

RA-16 is a reinforced ROF bearing pad used in structural connections

RA-16 is classified as an ROF type bearing pad.  This rubber pad is reinforced with random oriented fibers (ROF) to increase its compressive strength and load capacity as compared to plain or non-reinforced neoprene bearing pads.  This bearing pad material meets the requirements of many state DOT codes nationally.

RA-16 is commonly used as a compliant bearing pad in the pre cast concrete industry.  For example, it is ideal for concrete to concrete connections in parking garage construction because it allows for rotation and uneven loading due to non-parallel mating surfaces.  The use of plain neoprene bearing pads can be limited in this type of application.

ROF bearing pads can also be used in certain applications where the higher compressive strength of Bellpad bearing pad is not required.  These include pipe supports, pipe clamps, steel to concrete, steel to steel connections, expansion tanks, suspended walkways, etc.

RA-16 can be manufactured with a PTFE sliding surface to allow for expansion.  See PTFE bearing pads.
