Bellcell

BellCell

Bellcell is a rubber pad material used to provide vibration isolation for equipment and machinery

Rubber is widely used as the material of choice to control or reduce unwanted vibration.  Vibration isolation pads are manufactured from different types of rubber and in many thicknesses and/or shapes and profiles.    The type of rubber, the surface profile and the thickness all control the vibration isolation properties of the material.  The durometer or hardness of the rubber controls the allowable load.

Many vibration isolation pads are made with “ribbed”, “waffle” or “cell” profiles on one or both surfaces.  These profiles help to control the deflection on the material.  They also keep the material from “bulging” on its sides under load.  The choice varies by manufacturer as does the type of rubber used.  Neoprene, nitrile and butyl rubber are the most common.

The vibration isolation properties of a vibration isolation pad should be well documented by the manufacturer based on the characteristics discussed above.  Then, the load on the pad, the size of the pad and the thickness of the pad will determine how much vibration isolation will occur in your application.
